Ashton Township is one of twenty-two townships in Lee County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2000 census, its population was 1,317.[1] Ashton Township was originally formed as Ogle Township from Bradford Township on February 12, 1861; the name was changed to Ashton on November 7, 1867.

According to the United States Census Bureau, Ashton Township covers an area of 17.84 square miles (46.2 km2); of this, 17.81 square miles (46.1 km2) (99.83 percent) is land and 0.03 square miles (0.078 km2) (0.17 percent) is water.
